Aaron Hadfield

Chartered Financial Planner
Hard at work

I’ve been in the financial advice profession since 2016, joining immediately after finishing university with a degree in Financial Mathematics.

I started my career in a paraplanning role with St. James’s Place in Nottingham before moving to Newcastle with Fairstone, another national firm, in a senior paraplanner and client services role. During my time there, I achieved Chartered status before moving on to a financial planner role with Robson Laidler in July 2024.

At Robson Laidler, the main focus of my work is producing bespoke wealth plans for families, business owners, and professionals using powerful cashflow modelling technology.

A defining moment in my career to date was making the transition from senior paraplanner to adviser, after taking a six-month sabbatical across Southeast Asia and Australia. It was a bold decision, especially as I had the option to continue progressing through the salary and management tiers with a high level of job security. But ultimately, I realised that path wasn’t aligned with what I truly wanted.

The things I love most about my work are giving people confidence to retire and spend their hard-earned money, and teaching people about the world of personal financial planning and making it make sense. I also enjoy meeting new people with different perspectives on the world.

I find it rewarding to work with a wide range of individuals, where there’s a genuine interest in understanding their financial situation and making informed decisions. That curiosity and openness make the advice process collaborative and meaningful.

Away from the desk

I now spend most of my free time with my partner and two newly acquired cats. My partner wanted two cats, and I wanted none… so we compromised and got two cats…

I regularly meet up with friends, whether for local Thursday five-a-side football (our team were Premier League champions for spring 2025) or weekend hikes around Northumberland and the Lake District (I’ve completed 112 out of the 214 Wainwrights).

What's on your
bucket list?

A New Zealand campervan trip.

To build a garden bar.

A sub-20-minute Parkrun (and other fitness milestones I’ll probably not reach!).
