Jenny 
Hi, my name is Jenny Lines, and this is my husband, Rob. We’ve worked with Robson Laidler for about five years, and we work with Amanda Cowie.

Rob 
Initially, my wife, Jenny, got in touch with Robson Laidler in relation to Inheritance Tax for an elderly relative, and that came at a very similar time to when I had the opportunity to sell my business. We needed advice on retirement planning and our savings as well, so, it was a very opportune time to talk to Robson Laidler about that.

Jenny 
When I first started to talk to Robson Laidler, we had a lot of issues with the elderly relative and complications in her savings and things. It wasn’t straightforward, because everything was disseminated in a lot of different places, and we had to gather everything together. Robson Laidler were very good at pointing out where things were and drawing it together so that we could get a coherent picture of what we were trying to deal with.

Rob 
When Jenny first contacted Amanda, I did quite a lot of research including the website and looking into the company, and I was attracted to the relatively small nature of the business. It seemed very family-oriented, and I felt that was a better approach for what we wanted.

Rob 
Over the years, Robson Laidler has helped us with a multitude of different things, from Inheritance Tax planning to pension planning. I suppose most of all, they were able to give me confidence that we could retire and that we were in a position to afford what we wanted to do, and certainly throughout the years, they’ve managed our portfolios in ways and given us information and advice that has allowed us to make decisions on what we want to do as a couple.

Jenny 
I enjoy going into their offices and having meetings, and I feel very confident when I’ve got to email. Rob has a business background, whereas I don’t, and although I’m quite mathematical, I’m not very financially astute, so it gives me real confidence when I get their help, and I don’t feel afraid to ask what maybe sometimes is a daft question.

Rob 
I have confidence that we have much greater visibility of what we can and can’t do. In our meetings with Amanda, she’s very clear on saying, “You need to spend more” or “You need to do this or do that”. So, it’s greater clarity than we had before.

Jenny 
One of the best things about working with Amanda is that I feel very comfortable talking to her, and also the consistency that we’ve had. She’s always been our financial adviser, even though she brings other people in as seconds to help. So, I feel that we’ve built up a real relationship that I can rely on, should I ever need to.

Rob
